Real Estate Development Law FAQs
Find clear answers to common questions about our legal services and how we support your real estate projects from start to finish.
What areas of real estate development law do you handle?
Do you work on both large commercial and smaller residential projects?
What types of disputes commonly arise in real estate development?
How do you assist when litigation is necessary?
Do you only practice in Denton or the Dallas-Fort Worth area?
While our base is in Denton, Texas, we represent clients throughout the Dallas Metroplex, including Fort Worth, McKinney, Weatherford, and surrounding areas.
What sets your approach apart from other real estate attorneys?
Unlike more formulaic practices, Attorney McMurray is committed to crafting customized, creative solutions. He’s willing to pursue nontraditional or alternative paths to solve complex development problems — always with full transparency and integrity.
Can you handle other related real estate matters, such as closing transactions or title issues?
Yes. Beyond development law and litigation, we assist with real estate closings (commercial or residential), title and boundary issues, and related real estate law matters.
How do I know whether to hire you early (pre-development) or later (if a dispute arises)?
Engaging legal counsel early in the development process is almost always advantageous. Our preventive work (due diligence, contracts, planning) can greatly reduce risks later. But even mid-project or during disputes, we can step in to help salvage or protect your interests.
Q: What are materialmen’s liens, and how can you assist with them?
A materialmen’s lien is a claim from a contractor, supplier, or subcontractor for work or materials provided to a project. If you’re not being paid (or are facing such a lien), we can help you enforce lien rights or defend against wrongful claims.
